2019-2023 EHDI Grantee Projects

The Eliminating Health Disparity Initiative (EHDI) is a grant program within the Center for Health Equity. EHDI was established during the 2001 legislative session. The program invests about $5 million dollars annually in community initiatives that address health inequities for populations of color and American Indians across eight different priority health areas.

Project name: AAPI Women’s Coalition

Project Description: The AAPI Women's Health Coalition is a project designed to provide direct service, create system change and create a sustainable group of diverse stakeholders committed to changing health outcomes for AAPI women. With LACM as the lead, our focus is on fostering a strong, effective and influential coalition with a diverse group of stakeholders including fellow AAPI agencies, government entities, clinics, system players and others. This means garnering strong partnerships, leveraging assets, building consensus, co-creating vision and values as well as leveraging our cultural knowledge and practices. The coalition looks to continue its efforts to 1) build awareness, education and capacity within the AAPI community, 2) provide system navigation, workshops, events, & individualized services, 3) increase access to health care for AAPI women, 4) expand initiatives for HPV vaccination and 5) building capacity within the AAPI community by training female Community Health Liaisons.

EDHI Grant Activity Outcomes: 1) An 80% increase in awareness and knowledge of breast and cervical cancer in the API community, 2) HPV outreach and education activities will reach 75 community residents – 90% will pledge to get screened and 75% of whom will report receiving the HPV vaccination., 3) Build capacity of partnering agencies through training and development activities, 4) Increase access to culturally sound care in the Twin Cities and at least 1 rural location (i.e. St. Cloud, Worthington, Warroad)
